ACUF Donates $1000 To Baseball Student
Associated Credit Union Foundation Donates $1000 to Send Baseball Student to Cooperstown
When a need in the community presents itself, we know that Associated Credit Union will rise to the occasion and make sure this need is met. Tomahawk Baseball Academy student Logan Shirley was going to be the only member of his team that would not be able to afford their trip to Cooperstown, NY. For any baseball lovers out there, we know what a huge deal it is for anyone to get to make the trip to Cooperstown, much less a group of 12-year-old students. When Tom Maiellaro, VP of Marketing at ACU, heard the funds request on Star 94's the Jeff and Jenn show, he knew just what to do.
"This is exactly what we do at Associated Credit Union," said Maiellaro. "We couldn't be more excited to help someone in the community achieve his dream."
Shirley is more than just a baseball student; he's a valued community outreach partner. In partnership with the Tomahawk team, Shirley led initiatives to place wreaths on veteran's graves during the holiday season, and to deliver meals to the less fortunate. Shirley and his team focus heavily on volunteerism and supporting the community. A single military dad raised Shirley for nearly 12 years. This has influenced his desire to help those in the community, especially when it comes to veterans.
"His outreach and community volunteerism align perfectly with ACU's community pillars," said Maiellaro. "Maybe one day he'd like to help volunteer with the ACU Foundation and support our outreach as well. He sounds like an amazing kid."
