Scam Security

Your financial security is one of our highest priorities.
We've recently seen an increase in criminals using a tactic called phone spoofing to make it appear as though they're calling from Associated Credit Union's main phone number.
While the number on your caller ID may look legitimate, the person on the other end may not be from Associated Credit Union.
That's why we want you to know what to watch for—and what Associated Credit Union will never ask you to do.
But first…What Is Phone Spoofing?
Phone spoofing is when a scammer deliberately changes the caller ID information that appears on your phone. Hence, it looks like the call is coming from someone you trust—such as your credit union, the IRS, law enforcement, or another legitimate organization.
Their goal is simple: earn your trust before asking for sensitive information or convincing you to move your money.
Remember: Just because your caller ID says "Associated Credit Union" doesn't always mean it's really us.
If something about the call feels unusual, trust your instincts.
What to do if you suspect a fraudster has called? Hang up and call us directly at the number listed on your account statement or on our official website. We'll gladly verify whether we reached you.
Remember, Associated Credit Union will never:
- Ask for your online banking username or password.
- Ask you to share a one-time verification or security code.
- Ask you to move money to another account to "protect" your funds.
- Pressure you to act immediately or make a quick financial decision.
- Discourage you from hanging up and calling us back using a trusted number.
- Contact you by text, asking you to verify fraud or provide sensitive account information.
- Share your personal or account information unless you initiated the conversation and we've properly verified your identity.
When in Doubt, Hang Up.
Again, if a phone call or text doesn't feel right, it's always okay to stop the conversation.
Then call Associated Credit Union directly at the number listed on your account statement or on our official website.
Our team is always happy to verify whether we contacted you and help protect your accounts.
Thank you for trusting Associated Credit Union. Your financial security is one of our highest priorities.
